Biographical Information - Lawton Allan Davis III
I am a 1959 graduate of Lakeland High School. I am a 1964 graduate of Florida Southern College, with a major in chemistry and a minor in biology.
After getting my Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Southern College, I attended the United States Air Force Officer Training School in San Antonio, Texas and was commissioned an officer in the United States Air Force. My specialty was ground electronic maintenance for which I attended a 51-week school at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. I served for five years during the Vietnam War during which I spent two and one-half years on the island of Okinawa (a truly great assignment).
After leaving the United States Air Force, I pursued a career in electronic component sales. I retired from 3M Company after 28 and 1/2 years on the road in outside sales. I also spent four and one-half years with Arrow Electronics as a cable assembly and heat-shrinkable tubing specialist, covering the entire Southeastern United States and Puerto Rico.
I have previously served on the Hollingsworth Place Board of Directors in the mid-1990s. I built the Hollingsworth Place website, and I maintain it. Performing the research necessary to build the website has given me a good grounding in the history, character, and culture of Hollingsworth Place. This website has enabled the association to put a current copy of its governing documents online, whereby they are readily available to owners, tenants, real estate agents, real estate attorneys, title companies, and prospective buyers. This saves everyone time and effort, when a copy of a governing document is needed or desired.
